FRONT ROYAL – The Board of Supervisors at its regular Tuesday meeting hired an interim county attorney, temporarily filling the void left by former County Attorney Dan Whitten's resignation to become Prince George County's lawyer.

On a motion read by Supervisor Linda Glavis after exiting a closed session, the supervisors authorized Chairman Dan Murray to execute a contract with the Harrisonburg-based Litten and Sipe law firm “for the provision of temporary legal services” and to appoint it as interim county attorney.

County Administrator Doug Stanley said over the phone that a final contract with the law firm has not yet been signed and the county is considering a couple of different "pricing options." He added that the county is advertising to permanently fill the position and has received a few applications but it will likely be a couple of months before anyone is hired.
